You Can Make a Difference!
Your donation helps make a real impact, one Newfy at a time, especially as the needier/older Newfs arrive and may need special care.
If you are unable to donate, please consider spreading the word of Skagit Newfy Haven. We greatly appreciate it!

Examples of Newf care costs:
$25 - Newfy treats for one week.
$50 - Annual vaccinations for one Newf, or Kibble for one Newf for one month.
$100 - three weeks of fuel for Newfmobile regular runs to dog parks and appointments.
$150-200 - Annual Vet wellness visit plus vaccines for one Newf.
$1000-2000 - cost for Vet ER visits (*based on previous visits for Riley and Sophie).
$1200 - expected cost of neuter and umbilical hernia repair for Teddy after he turns 2 years of age.

*Riley at 8 years of age had a case of bloody infectious/explosive diarrhea and was severely dehydrated, requiring an overnight ER stay for workup, IV antibiotics and re-hydration.
*Riley at 11 years of age, developed extraordinary pain one night when rolling over during sleep, so was brought to the vet ER for workup. He was found to have metastasized hepatic carcinoma for which there was no treatment. The difficult decision for euthanasia at the vet was made, when there was no way to ease his pain and bring him home for a last couple days. The only redeeming feature of hepatocarcinoma in dogs, is that generally they have fully active lives without pain until the very last day.
*Sophie at almost 14 years of age was not able to keep food down over a period of weeks and no availability of high level workup at the regular vet clinic. ER full workup determined mega-esophagus. The difficult decision was made to give her 2 more days of love at home and then euthanasia at home by mobile vet service.

Non-Monetary Donation Wish List:
1. 2023-2025 Ford E-Transit van, preferably low profile and with windows. We would not turn down other versions of Ford Transit vans. NO monetary donations above will be used to replace the Newfmobile. We only hope someone may donate a newer one in the future as the current Sienna minivan has 307K miles on the odometer. We use this to transport Newfs back and forth to dog parks/vet appointments/people therapy working visits.
2. Grooming table, extra large, with electric or pedal hydraulic lift. This would facilitate grooming the Newfs rather than getting on the ground/bending and twisting to do this daily chore.
3. Dog cart for draft work (plus extra large harness). Newfs are a working breed. You may have seen pictures of them hauling pumpkins or trees during holiday season.
