Frequently Asked Questions
May I visit Skagit Newfy Haven? Yes, contact me to arrange.
How are donations used? 100% of donations received are used for direct care of the Newfs. This is for food, medicine, veterinary needs (including regular visits, vaccines, surgeries) and fuel for the Newfmobile.
Do you board, breed or provide kennel services? No, we provide no commercial services to non Newfy Haven dogs. Occasionally other dogs may have play visits and sleep overs at Newfy Haven, but these are as friends at no cost.
Are Newfy Haven dogs available for adoption? No, they are permanent Haven residents.
I want to learn about the Newfoundland breed and/or consider adopting one, where can I do that? The Seattle Purebred Dog Rescue (SPDR) website page on Newfs is a great start. Also Newfoundland Club of Seattle and Newfoundland Club of America:
I need to surrender/re-home my Newf, would you adopt them? Skagit Newfy Haven generally will consider taking older Newfs who have barriers to traditional family adoption. We would prefer younger and middle age Newfs go through Seattle Purebred Dog Rescue's Newf specialists (www.spdrdogs.org/forms/adoption) to find a suitable forever family. Please contact me to discuss if you have questions.
Why ask for donations? In my retirement I have enough to pay for my home, repair/upkeep, utilities, and my own expenses. As we adopt the needier and older Newfs with chronic health challenges, the ongoing costs are substantial for their direct care. This care is what your donation is used for. (Skagit Newfy Haven Charitable Trust is a 501(c)3 Public Charity)
